Dhenkanal: A farmer allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison at Basudeipur village of Gadanrusinghaprasad panchayat under Bhuban police limits in Dhenkanal district on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Jagannath Mohapatra.
According to reports, Jagannath, whose health condition was not stable for past few years, had taken loan from a bank and some friends for his treatment.
After his recovery, Jagannath however, found it hard to repay the loan. Following this, he took the extreme step to end his life.
Police have registered a case of unnatural death and initiated a probe into the incident.
