An eight-year-old girl was brutally raped in the Trisulia area under Barang police limits in Odisha’s Cuttack district. The minor girl is now battling for her life at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Post Graduate Institute of Paediatrics (Sishubhawan).
Cuttack DCP Jagmohan Meena told the media that the victim is undergoing treatment at Sishubhawan.
An investigation was launched into the incident after the victim’s parents lodged a complaint at the Barang police station and the accused man was apprehended at Trisulia within a few hours, the police added.
As per the latest reports, the survivor is being shifted to SCB MCH for further treatment.
The victim’s parents work as labourers at a local brick kiln where the horrific incident took place. The accused, a native of Jharkhand, is also employed at the same brick kiln.
