Sambalpur: The carcass of an 8-feet long saltwater crocodile was found floating with a GPS tracking device attached to its tail from the banks of the Mahanadi river on Monday.
According to reports, the matter came to the fore after some locals spotted the dead crocodile floating on the water and informed the forest officials about the same.
On being informed, forest officials reached the spot and recovered the body of the reptile. The body was sent for autopsy to ascertain the cause of the death.
Further investigation is underway in this regard.
