The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against three members of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) for their involvement in extortion and forced recruitment in Jharkhand.
The accused have been charged under various sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
According to the NIA, the three individuals were actively engaged in collecting levies from businesses and local communities under the threat of violence. Additionally, they are accused of coercing young individuals into joining the Maoist ranks, further fueling insurgency in the region.
This action comes as part of a broader crackdown on Naxalite activities, with security agencies intensifying efforts to curb extremist operations in Jharkhand and other affected areas. Authorities believe that dismantling these extortion networks will weaken insurgent movements and restore stability.
Further investigations are underway to identify additional links within the Maoist network. The NIA remains committed to uprooting organised terror operations and ensuring justice.
