The spirit of patriotism is set to soar high in Odisha as the state gears up for the 80th State-level Independence Day celebrations. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will grace the occasion as the chief guest and hoist the National Flag.
In a key preparatory meeting held this afternoon, the Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department, under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Hemant Sharma, finalised the detailed roadmap for the historic event.
Emphasising that Independence Day is a symbol of collective emotion and pride, Sharma directed officials to ensure meticulous attention to every arrangement so that the celebrations reflect the true spirit of the nation.
The formal flag-hoisting ceremony will take place at 9 AM on Mahatma Gandhi Marg in Bhubaneswar. The I&PR Department will oversee all associated arrangements at the parade and flag-hoisting venue. Plans include early morning broadcast of Ramdhun through public address systems, live telecast of the entire programme on television and social media platforms, timely information to the media, attractive decoration of the venue, display of photographs of freedom fighters, and proper seating arrangements for invited dignitaries.
The road from Raj Bhavan to the celebration venue will be specially beautified. Chief Minister Majhi will also present awards and felicitate the best-performing contingents and tableau teams that excelled during the Republic Day 2026 State-level parade.
To enhance the festive atmosphere, major government buildings, public sector undertakings, and prominent structures will be illuminated. The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation will ensure sanitation and drinking water facilities at the venue, while the Commissionerate Police will handle security and traffic management.
The meeting was attended by Director of I&PR Anuj Kumar Das Pattanaik, Technical Director Gurbir Singh, Additional Secretary Ashok Kumar Beuria, Additional Director Smita Kar, Joint Director (Field) Sucheta Priyadarshini, and other senior departmental officials.
With every detail carefully planned, Odisha is all set to celebrate Independence Day 2026 with pride, patriotism, and grandeur.
