Company’s managing director arrested in chit fund case brought to OdishaCuttack: Economic Offences Wing of Crime Branch arrested accused Jaydeep Raha, Managing Director of M/s Jetex Ocenair Pvt. Ltd. from Kolkata in EOW PS Case No.13 dt.08.05.2015 u/s 120-B/ 406/467/468/471/420 IPC r/w Sec. 4, 5 & 6 of Prize Chits and Money Circulation Schemes (Banning) Act, 1978 and Sec.6 of OPID Act, 2011 and produced him before the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Alipore, South 24 Parganas.
The said accused has been brought on transit remand and will be produced in the Designated Court under OPID Act, Cuttack.
The instant case was registered on the report of one Subash Chandra Pradhan of Bhanapur under Balanga PS of Puri District on the allegation that chit fund Company M/s Ambitious Diversified Projects Management Ltd., Kolkata and OAK India Multistate Credit Co-operative Society represented through its Directors and Members have illegally collected crores of rupees from the investors of Odisha by assuring high rate of interest. Subsequently, they closed down the offices of the Company without paying the interest as well as the principal amount and fled away from the locality. It has been ascertained that during the period from 2010 to 2014, the company without any authority had collected more than Rs.2.62 crores from as many as 1968 investors of Odisha under the allurement of repaying with high rate of interest. During investigation, it was revealed that out of the above collected amount, during the year 2011-12, a sum of about Rs.1.83 crores has been diverted to the account of M/s Jetex Oceanair Pvt. Ltd., the Managing Director of which is the present accused Jaydeep Raha. After being apprehended, he could not give any satisfactory reply in respect of receipt of such huge amount. Three cases have also been registered against the chit fund company in West Bengal.
Earlier, accused Omkar Singh, Managing Director and other Directors namely, Kunal Tiwary, Arshad Hussain and Mringanka Sekhar Chakrabarty of M/s Jetex Ocenair Pvt. Ltd. have been arrested in the case.
