With New Year’s Eve approaching, the Commissionerate Police announced strict security measures to ensure a safe and enjoyable Zero Night celebration.
Police Commissioner Suresh Devdutt Singh reviewed the preparations and stressed the importance of public safety. Accordingly, 15 platoons of police will be deployed across the city. In addition, officers will focus on traffic management, surveillance systems, and standby teams. Singh instructed all officers to monitor their respective areas closely.
Meanwhile, the fire brigade completed its inspection of key venues. Bar and restaurant owners received directives to implement comprehensive safety measures. “Drunk drivers will be kept under control,” Singh warned, highlighting the department’s zero-tolerance approach.
Furthermore, the Commissionerate Police prioritised women’s safety. Organisers of events received instructions to strictly adhere to stipulated time limits. As a result, authorities expect celebrations to remain orderly while minimising risks.
Overall, the police strategy combines vigilance, preventive checks, and community cooperation. The measures aim to protect revellers and maintain peace during one of Bhubaneswar’s busiest nights of the year.
