Veteran Odia Actor Uttam Mohanty passed away while undergoing treatment for Liver Cirrhosis at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram, Delhi. He was 66.
Mohanty was airlifted to Gurgaon for specialized treatment nearly three weeks ago after being admitted to the ICU of a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. He reportedly fell ill during the shoot of an Odia film-‘Bou Buttu Bhuta’.
Mohanty is survived by his wife, noted Odia film actress Aparajita Mohanty, and their son, popular actor Babusan. He was well-known for his stellar performances in Odia movies such as Danda Balunga, Jahaku Rakhibe Ananta, Rajanigandha, Chaka Bhaunri, Daiba Daudi, Kanya Dana, Chaka Akhi Sabu Dekhuchi, Pua Mora Kala Thakura, and Lakhe Shiba Puji Paichhi Pua.
Uttam Mohanty had an illustrious career in the Ollywood industry, spanning nearly two decades during the 80s and 90s. He was a beloved figure in Odia cinema, known for his stellar performances in numerous films.
