The Central Board of Secondary Education has released detailed guidelines for the Class 10 Second Board Examination 2026, outlining the process for List of Candidates (LOC) submission and examination fee payment.

The Board has directed all affiliated schools to strictly follow the prescribed schedule and ensure accurate data submission.

LOC Submission and Fee Payment Schedule

CBSE has introduced a phased timeline for schools:

  • First Phase (Fee Payment): April 16 to April 20, 2026
  • Second Phase (LOC Submission + Fee Payment): April 16 to April 20, 2026
  • Third Phase (With Late Fee): April 21 to April 22, 2026

The Board has clarified that no changes will be allowed after final LOC submission.

Key Instructions for Students and Schools

CBSE has issued the following important directions:

  • Students who did not register earlier can now submit their names with fee payment
  • Already registered candidates must complete fee payment within the deadline
  • Students not willing to appear can withdraw their names

Mathematics Subject Option Change

Students are allowed to switch between:

  • Mathematics (Standard) ↔ Mathematics (Basic)

No changes are permitted in any other subjects.

Eligibility and Improvement Rules

The Board has clarified eligibility criteria:

  • Students who have passed can improve performance in up to three subjects
  • Subjects include Science, Mathematics, Social Science, and Languages
  • Compartment candidates can appear under the same category and for improvement
  • Students under the ER (Essential Repeat) category are not eligible

Additionally, schools will submit LOC only for First Chance Compartment candidates.

Provisions for Special Category Students

Facilities for Children With Special Needs (CWSN) will continue as per existing rules. However:

  • No new registrations will be accepted under this category

Important Note for Candidates

CBSE has stated that:

  • If a student submits LOC and pays fees but does not appear for the exam, their main examination result (2026) will be treated as final
  • The Second Examination will follow the same syllabus as the main exam
