The inventory and verification of valuables inside the Ratna Bhandar of Jagannath Temple in Puri resumed on Thursday and will continue until April 18, 2026.
This ongoing process is part of a detailed effort to document and verify the temple’s treasured ornaments.
Darshan Restrictions for Devotees
Due to the ongoing inventory work:
- Devotees are not allowed inside the inner sanctum (Bhitar Katha)
- Darshan is being conducted from outer barricades only
Authorities have urged visitors to cooperate with the temporary arrangements.
Counting Process Under Strict Supervision
The inventory exercise is being carried out with strict protocols:
- The Ratna Bhandar is opened after morning rituals
- Keys are brought from the treasury in the presence of a magistrate
- Only authorised personnel are allowed inside
The process is being overseen by Justice Biswanath Rath, chairman of the inspection committee.
Advanced Documentation Measures Implemented
To ensure transparency and accuracy, officials are using:
- 3D mapping technology
- Photography and videography
- Detailed recording of each ornament
Key temple officials, including Bhandar Nayak and Deula Karana, are present during the process.
Significant Treasure in Inner Treasury
As per official records, the inner Ratna Bhandar contains:
- 367 varieties of gold ornaments
- 231 varieties of silver ornaments
On the first day alone, more than 20 ornaments were verified, and the process is continuing systematically.

- Inner treasury counting began on April 13, 2026
