A significant theft occurred during a thread ceremony at the municipal corporation’s Kalyan Mandap in Puri, where miscreants stole Rs 2 lakh in cash and 50 grams of gold.
The incident took place during the ceremony for lawyer Smruti Ranjan Pati’s son.
The entire robbery was captured on camera, providing crucial footage of the crime. A complaint has been filed with the Puri Town Police, who are investigating the case and using the video footage to track down the thief.
This incident is reminiscent of a recent theft on February 2 at a luxury hotel in Bhubaneswar, where a gang disguised as wedding guests looted diamonds, gold worth approximately Rs 10 lakh, and Rs 2.5 lakh in cash during a wedding ceremony.
