Global K-pop sensation BTS has made history by topping the Billboard 200 for a third consecutive week with their latest album Arirang. This achievement marks the first time in over a decade that a group has maintained the No. 1 position for three straight weeks.
According to chart preview data, Arirang continues its strong run on the April 18 chart, reinforcing BTS’s global dominance in the music industry.
Historic Chart Milestone
BTS becomes the first group since Mumford & Sons achieved the feat in 2012 with Babel. Notably, BTS is also the first Korean act to hold the top position for three consecutive weeks on the Billboard 200.
The Billboard 200 ranks albums based on total equivalent units, combining physical sales, digital downloads, and streaming activity.
Strong Sales and Streaming Numbers
In its third week, Arirang recorded 124,000 equivalent album units. This includes:
- 71,000 units from pure album sales
- 50,000 units from streaming activity
- 3,000 units from track-equivalent units
The album has also topped Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart for three consecutive weeks, reflecting strong fan support worldwide.
During its debut week, Arirang achieved 532,000 pure sales, marking one of the highest weekly totals for a group album in recent years.
Global Chart Dominance
Beyond the United States, Arirang continues to perform strongly across international markets. The album has held the No. 1 position on Spotify’s Weekly Top Albums chart and reclaimed the top spot on Germany’s Official Top 100 Albums chart.
It also secured high rankings in other key regions:
- No. 2 in France
- No. 2 in Australia
- Top positions on Japan’s Oricon charts
Meanwhile, the album’s track “Swim” remains a strong contender on Billboard’s main singles chart.
Massive Tour Demand
The group’s success extends beyond charts to live performances. BTS recently drew over 132,000 fans across three concerts at Goyang Stadium in South Korea.
The group is now set to continue its global tour, covering 34 cities with 85 shows across Asia, North America, Europe, and South America. This marks one of the largest tours ever undertaken by a K-pop act.
Continued Global Influence
BTS’s consistent chart performance highlights the growing global influence of K-pop. Their ability to sustain top rankings across multiple platforms reflects both strong fan engagement and widespread international appeal.
As Arirang continues its run, BTS is expected to further strengthen its position as one of the most impactful music groups in the world.
