Chamoli: A BRO camp in Uttrakhand came under avalanche the day past, wherein 291 other people trapped had been rescued thus far.
This data has been given by the Central Command of the Indian Military. The day before today, the coincidence came about throughout heavy snowfall in Sumna space of Joshimath sector of Chamoli district.
Rescue operations to locate other labourers underway. Two bodies have been recovered so far.
The road access is cut off at 4 to 5 locations due to multiple landslides.
BRTF teams from Joshimath are working to clear slides en route from Bhapkund to Sumna since last evening.
At around 1600 hours on 23 April 2021, an avalanche hit a location about 4 km ahead of Sumna on Sumna – Rimkhim road in Uttarakhand.
A BRO detachment and two labour camps exist nearby for road construction work along this axis. An Army camp is located 3 Km from Sumna (approximately 1 Km short of BRO Sumna Det).
