In a significant political development, BJP National President Nitin Nabin will embark on his maiden two-day official visit to Odisha starting tomorrow, marking his first trip to the state after assuming the top party post.
The visit, described as modest and purposeful, will see the national president arriving by a regular passenger flight at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar. True to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s repeated call for austerity amid the ongoing global oil crisis, the reception has been deliberately kept low-key and free of any extravagance.
State BJP President Manmohan Samal, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, and senior leaders will personally receive Nabin at the airport, setting the tone for a visit that blends organisational rigour with spiritual resonance.
On Monday, May 18, the national president will chair the crucial State Core Committee meeting at the state party office. Immediately afterwards, he will inaugurate the district-level Pandit Deendayal Training Mahabhiyan-2026 camp organised by the Bhubaneswar organisational district at the Asian Institute of Physical Health (AIPHC) University campus near IIT Jatni in Khordha district. The camp is expected to energise party workers with ideological training and grassroots strategy sessions.
Later in the day, Nabin will proceed to the holy city of Puri for darshan of Lord Jagannath and partake in the divine Mahaprasad – a gesture that beautifully fuses political duty with Odisha’s living cultural and spiritual heritage.
Upon returning to Bhubaneswar in the afternoon, the national president will address a joint meeting of state office-bearers, morcha presidents and the ministerial council, where he is expected to interact extensively, review organisational preparedness and discuss key state-specific issues.
The visit will conclude in the evening when Nabin flies back to Delhi from Bhubaneswar airport.
Speaking to the media, State BJP Spokesperson Sudipta Ray said, “This is a very important visit. As the national president’s first Odisha tour after taking responsibility, it carries special significance. Following the Prime Minister’s guidance, we are ensuring a simple and dignified welcome. The entire programme has been designed to strengthen the organisation while respecting the sentiments of the people of Odisha.” State Media Coordinator Sujit Kumar Das was also present during the briefing.
Political observers view the visit as a clear signal of the party’s renewed focus on Odisha, especially with the national leadership directly engaging with state functionaries and cadre through training programmes and high-level meetings. The inclusion of the Puri temple visit is also being seen as a powerful outreach to the state’s deeply religious ethos.
With the national president’s arrival just hours away, the BJP in Odisha is buzzing with activity as it prepares to roll out the red carpet – albeit a simple one – for its top leader.
