Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi arrived in Abu Dhabi today, marking the official start of the state’s strategic investment outreach in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Scheduled from September 9 to 11, with the delegation returning to India on September 12, the visit seeks to deepen economic collaboration and build long-term industrial partnerships between Odisha and the MENA region.

Leading a high-power delegation—including Minister of Industries Sampad Chandra Swain, Chief Secretary Anu Garg, and senior officials from the Industries Department and IPICOL—CM Majhi aims to present Odisha as a top-tier destination for foreign direct investment, manufacturing, renewable energy, and infrastructure.

Upon landing in Abu Dhabi, the delegation was received by Additional Chief Secretary (Industries) Shri Hemant Sharma, alongside officials from the Embassy of India to the UAE and UAE-based business leaders.

Immediately following his arrival, Chief Minister Majhi reviewed preparations for the core business engagements scheduled across Abu Dhabi. He held a high-level meeting with the Ambassador of India to the UAE to discuss expanding economic and people-to-people ties. Highlighting the contribution of the non-resident Odia community in the Gulf, the Chief Minister reiterated the state government’s commitment to ensuring continuous facilitation, ease of living, and support for Odia expatriates.

Speaking ahead of the key investor summits, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi stated:

“Odisha has entered a new phase of industrial growth, and our engagement with the UAE is an important part of this journey. We are coming here not only to invite investment, but to build long-term partnerships based on trust, technology, value creation, and employment. The UAE is an important global economic partner, and we look forward to strengthening the Odisha-UAE relationship through concrete investment and industrial opportunities.”

The outreach comes at a crucial juncture in Odisha’s rapid industrial transformation. The delegation will pitch the state’s key competitive advantages—including a rich natural resource base, expanding port infrastructure, reliable power supply, a skilled workforce, and seamless access to both Indian and global markets.

Key Engagements Ahead: Sept 9

The official agenda begins on September 9 with a packed schedule of high-impact meetings in Abu Dhabi, including:

  • Roundtable Interactions: Meetings with International Holding Company (IHC) and its various business verticals to discuss capital participation and joint ventures.
  • Ministerial Engagements: Bilateral discussions with the UAE Minister of Investment and top institutional stakeholders.
  • Business Leadership Groups: Interactive sessions with the Indian Business and Professional Group (IBPG).
  • Sectoral Focus: Dedicated sessions targeting the petrochemicals, downstream chemicals, infrastructure, and energy sectors.

By translating early investor interest into ground-level execution, the Government of Odisha aims to foster lasting economic growth, accelerate local employment, and firmly establish the state on the global industrial map.
