In a decisive move to accelerate urban transformation, the Kataka Development Authority (KDA) greenlit a slew of ambitious infrastructure and civic amenity projects during its 144th Authority Meeting.
Chaired by Odisha’s Housing & Urban Development Minister and KDA Chairman, Dr. Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, the high-level meeting mapped out a comprehensive blueprint for the city’s future.
The session was attended by key stakeholders, including KMC Mayor Subash Chandra Singh, KDA Vice-Chairperson Kirandeep Kaur Sahota, Town Planning Director Satrughna Kar, and KDA Secretary Janak Kumar Nayak.
Sector-15 and Social Infrastructure
A primary focus of the meeting was the approval of the Sector-15 development project, which emphasizes a planned, integrated approach to urban expansion. To support this growth, the Authority outlined robust measures to strengthen social infrastructure across Kataka, fast-tracking the construction and modernization of schools, hospitals, and community halls.
Housing and Town Planning
The KDA also reviewed the ongoing Town Planning Scheme at Chandiprasad, directing officials to expedite the process. Aligning with the state’s vision for inclusive growth, special emphasis was placed on Affordable Housing Projects to ensure safe, high-quality, and budget-friendly housing remains accessible to all socio-economic groups in the city.
Riverfront and Road Developments
“The 144th Authority Meeting of the Kataka Development Authority was held today, during which several key developmental projects were reviewed and approved,” stated Dr. Mahapatra. “The meeting reviewed the progress of the Town Planning Schemes, the Mahanadi River Front Development Project, and various critical road construction projects.”
Decongestion and Market Redevelopment
To tackle Kataka’s growing traffic challenges, the Authority formally decided to undertake a comprehensive city decongestion plan. This initiative aims to streamline traffic management, ease daily bottlenecks, and enhance the overall transit infrastructure. Additionally, a dedicated Kapda Mandi (textile market) will be established, offering a centralized commercial hub that will boost local trade while clearing congested market zones.
With these approvals, the KDA has set the stage for a cleaner, more organized, and economically vibrant Kataka.
