Baliguda police have arrested the wife of CRPF jawan Ashok Kumar Behera following his death earlier this month. Investigators say evidence points to her role in abetting the jawan’s suicide.
Ashok, posted in Baliguda, reportedly consumed poison on July 7 and later died in hospital. Police revealed that marital discord had plagued the couple, with the wife filing multiple complaints against her husband and in‑laws. Allegations also surfaced of her involvement in an extramarital relationship with another CRPF jawan, which left Ashok mentally distressed.
After Ashok’s family lodged a complaint, police launched an investigation and found proof that his wife had instigated him. She was subsequently arrested and sent to jail. Baliguda SDPO confirmed that another individual’s involvement is also under scrutiny.
The case has sparked concern in the community, highlighting the impact of personal disputes and the need for stronger support systems for security personnel facing family pressures.
