Cuttack: Odisha vigilance sleuths arrested an ASI of Police in Cuttack district for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 8000.
The accused has been identified as Alok Kumar Sarangi, ASI of Police of Bhadreswar under Police Station in Cuttack district.
Sarangi has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while accepting a bribe of Rs.8000 from a complainant to help him in a case registered earlier in Bhadreswar Police Station.
The entire bribe money has been recovered from exclusive possession of Sarangi and seized.
Following the successful trap, simultaneous searches are going on at three locations in Sarangi, ASI from a DA angle.
In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance PS case no. 6 dt. 1-3-2024 U/s-7PC Amendment Act, 2018 has been registered. The investigation is in progress against the accused. Further reports are awaited.
