Armed robbers loot passengers onboard Sambalpur-Jammu Tawi Express in Jharkhand

Bhubaneswar: A group of masked men wielding arms thrashed and looted several passengers of at least two sleepers coaches of the Sambalpur-Jammu Tawi Express in Jharkhand on Saturday.

As per reports, the incident took place at around 11 p.m. when the train was between Latehar and Barwadih.

Around 15 robbers armed with guns and other deadly weapons entered the S-9 coach and looted many passengers at gunpoint. They robbed ornaments worth lakhs of rupees, cash, and other valuable goods from the passengers by threatening to kill them.

As per preliminary reports, minor injuries have also been caused to seven passengers. The matter came to light after the train departed from Barwadih at 11:56 pm on 23 Sept and reached  Daltonganj station at 12.37 am and the passengers created a ruckus.

Palpable tension prevailed in the station for some time for the train halted at the station for nearly two hours. Eventually, the train left the station after first aid was provided to the injured passengers.

 

Later, railway officials reached Daltonganj while medical help was given to the injured passengers. Besides, the state administration along with RPF and GRP are also taking necessary action.
