Bhubaneswar: Air pollution levels in the capital city of Bhubaneswar dropped drastically after Diwali celebrations as the time restrictions imposed by the Supreme Court on bursting of crackers went for a toss.
The dip is stated to have been inflicted by use of firecrackers for celebrating Diwali, despite the government allowing use of only green crackers.
The AQI is calculated for four major air pollutants including ground level ozone, particle pollution, carbon monoxide, and sulfur dioxide.
As per Central Pollution Control Board, Air Quality Index on Nov 12 (4 PM, Average of past 24 hours)
Bhubaneswar: ‘Poor’
Cuttack: ‘Poor’
Balasore: ‘Poor’
Angul: ‘Poor’
Keonjhar: ‘Moderate’
Rourkela: ‘Moderate’
Though the police made some crack down at people violating the time restriction but it had little impact on pollution levels.
