Phulbani: The adage – there’s no age limit to learning – has been proved right by the Phulbani MLA, Angada Kanhar. The 70-year-old politician cleared his Class 10 exam and that too, in the first division.
The lawmakers from the Phulbani constituency appeared for the examination at the Rujangi High School in Pitabari village of the Kandhamal district this year and secured 72 per cent mark.
Kanhar has scored 364 marks out of 500 in his Class 10 examination this year. After seeing his result, the MLA expressed his happiness and went to the temple to worship.
Meanwhile, wishes pour in for MLA’s successful completion of the 10th board examinations. Political colleagues, friends, locals, and the school where he had given the examination congratulated him for his success.

Kanhar is among the 5,17,847 students who have cleared the High School Certificate examination. He had earlier said that in 1978 he could not appear the HSC examination owing to a variety of family problems.
He thanked everyone who helped and motivated him to appear for the examination and also said that he will continue his studies.
Even at 70, Kanhar’s spirits are still high. When people of his age around him are enjoying their retirement, Kanhar is fully active in politics.
It is to be noted here that Kanhar is a farmer by profession and he successfully contested the 2019 Assembly election from the Phulbani constituency on a BJD ticket. This is the first time that he contested the Assembly election.
