Abhishek Sharma has been fined 25% of his match fees and handed one demerit point for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during a high-intensity IPL 2026 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens.
The incident occurred after Abhishek showed visible dissent following his dismissal, which was confirmed after an on-field review.
Reason Behind the Penalty
Abhishek appeared unconvinced about the catch taken by Varun Chakravarthy and reacted with frustration. He remained at the crease briefly and gestured before walking back to the pavilion.
According to the IPL’s official statement:

- He accepted the match referee’s decision
- The penalty includes a 25% fine and one demerit point
For Level 1 breaches, the match referee’s decision is final and binding.
