Police busted an alleged sex racket operating from a massage parlour near Buddha Jayanti Park under Chandrasekharpur police limits on Friday, following a complaint by a woman who claimed she was forced into prostitution under the pretext of a job offer.
Acting on her complaint, a police team raided the premises and rescued two women. The parlour owner and a customer were detained for questioning, and several objectionable items were seized.
According to police sources, the victim had been seeking employment when she met the parlour owner, who promised her a job at a star hotel. Instead, she was taken to the parlour and allegedly coerced into illegal activities. She stated that she was assaulted, threatened, and confined, with her mobile phone and clothes taken away to prevent escape.
The woman later managed to flee and lodged a complaint at Chandrasekharpur police station, detailing her ordeal. Police immediately launched the operation and rescued two other women who were reportedly held there.
Investigators are now probing the extent of the racket and identifying others involved. The case has raised concerns about human trafficking and exploitation under the guise of wellness services in the city.
