The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has a new leader at the helm. IAS officer Mandeep K. Bhandari, a 2001-batch officer of the AGMUT cadre and an MBBS gold medallist, has been appointed as the chairman of CBSE.
His appointment comes at a time when the board is under scrutiny for its first full-scale On-Screen Marking system introduced for Class 12 answer sheets.
Bhandari’s career reflects a blend of academic brilliance and administrative expertise. Having served in senior roles across Jammu and Kashmir and the central government, he brings with him a wealth of experience in governance and policy implementation. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved his appointment on September 25, temporarily upgrading the post to the rank and pay of an Additional Secretary.
