A 48‑year‑old property dealer, Manjeet Singh, died following a violent scuffle with his neighbours in Delhi’s Kalkaji area on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. His brother, Dilbag Singh, sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment at AIIMS Trauma Centre.
Police said a PCR call was received shortly after midnight about a quarrel at a residential building in Kalkaji. Preliminary investigation revealed that the clash occurred between residents of the ground and third floors and stemmed from a property dispute.
Manjeet, who had visited the building for business discussions, was allegedly assaulted during the altercation. He was rushed to hospital but declared dead on arrival. His brother Dilbag claimed that the attackers also assaulted him when he tried to intervene.
The family has alleged that Manjeet was beaten to death, while police have formed multiple teams to examine CCTV footage and identify those involved.
Officials said the investigation will focus on reconstructing the sequence of events and verifying claims of assault. The case has sparked tension in the locality, with residents calling for stricter action against those responsible.
