In view of potential incessant rainfall across the state, Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr Mukesh Mahaling chaired a high-level virtual review meeting on Monday to evaluate the health department’s operational readiness and ensure uninterrupted healthcare services for citizens.
During the meeting, officials conducted a comprehensive review of emergency medical preparations, availability of essential medicines and medical supplies, ambulance deployments, and hospital contingency plans.
Dr Mahaling directed officials across all districts to remain on high alert and work in a coordinated manner to prevent any disruption to essential medical services. He emphasised the immediate deployment of emergency medical aid in heavy rain-affected areas and instructed authorities to secure adequate resources and infrastructure in local hospitals.
Reassuring the public, the Health Minister stated that the state government is fully committed to public safety and health care. He urged citizens not to panic, stay vigilant, and strictly adhere to advisory guidelines issued by the administration.
The virtual review meeting was attended by Commissioner-cum-Secretary Ashwathi S., Director of Public Health Dr Rabindra Nath Mishra, Director of Health Services Mahesh Mohan Panda, Director of Medical Education and Training Durga Madhab Satapathy(DMET), along with Chief District Medical Officers (CDMOs), Deans, and Principals of all medical colleges across Odisha.
