The Odisha state government officially launched the ‘Shree Jagannath Darshan Yojana’ from Lok Seva Bhavan, aimed at facilitating hassle-free pilgrimage to the holy city of Puri for spiritual devotees across the state.
The scheme was virtually inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida.
In the initial phase of the rollout, a total of 910 devotees belonging to three districts will be sponsored and assisted to visit the Lord Jagannath Temple in Puri.
According to official estimates, the state government has outlined an ambitious schedule under this initiative. By October 17, as many as 10,535 devotees spread across 13 districts will be covered under the scheme to offer prayers to Lord Jagannath.
Speaking at the virtual inauguration, officials highlighted that the primary objective of the scheme is to ensure structured, comfortable, and well-organised pilgrimage facilities for citizens—especially elderly and underprivileged devotees—wishing to seek blessings at the sacred shrine.
