Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) prices in Delhi-NCR were hiked by Rs 3.89 per kg on Saturday, pushing the rate in the national capital to Rs 86.98 per kg.
The revision follows a Rs 2 hike in late May, reflecting the impact of rising international Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) prices due to the ongoing conflict in West Asia.
According to Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), imported LNG accounts for a significant share of the gas used to supply CNG. With spot market prices remaining elevated, the company said the calibrated revision was necessary to partially offset the increase in input costs.
The latest city-wise CNG prices effective from 6 a.m. Saturday are:
- Delhi: Rs 86.98 per kg
- Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad: Rs 95.59 per kg
- Gurugram: Rs 92.01 per kg
Officials noted that the surge in global LNG rates is linked to disruptions in energy shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route carrying nearly one-fifth of the world’s energy needs. Rising demand in Europe ahead of winter has further pressured prices.
