Nearly two decades after Awarapan became a cult favourite, Emraan Hashmi is back as Shivam Pandit in the first teaser of Awarapan 2.
Released on the 19th anniversary of the original film, the teaser offers an emotional glimpse into Shivam’s life while introducing a new chapter filled with action, heartbreak and redemption.
The teaser has already generated excitement among fans, especially with the return of the iconic song Toh Phir Aao in a refreshed version.
Emraan Hashmi Reprises Shivam Pandit
The teaser opens with Shivam reflecting on a life shaped by pain and loss. Still grieving the death of Aaliyah, portrayed by Shriya Saran in the original film, Shivam appears emotionally scarred as he searches for purpose.
His voiceover sets the tone for the sequel:
“Some people’s stories do not end on their own terms. Their stories are written for others.”
The visuals show Shivam visiting Aaliyah’s grave, intercut with scenes featuring Disha Patani, Shabana Azmi, and intense action sequences that hint at a darker and more emotionally charged story.
The teaser concludes with Shivam declaring:
“This time, either this wandering will end, or I will.”
The dialogue reinforces the film’s themes of sacrifice, redemption and inner conflict.
‘Toh Phir Aao’ Returns with a New Version
One of the biggest highlights of the teaser is the return of the beloved song Toh Phir Aao, which became synonymous with the original Awarapan.
Music composer Mithoon has recreated the track as Toh Phir Aao 2.0, with lyrics by Sayeed Qadri. Although only a brief portion of the song is heard in the teaser, it has already sparked nostalgia among longtime fans of the franchise.

Awarapan 2 features Emraan Hashmi in the lead role alongside Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi.
The supporting cast includes Surendar Vicky, Vijayant Kohli, and Atul Kumar.
The film is directed by Nitin Kakkar, written by Bilal Siddiqui, and produced by Vishesh Bhatt under the Vishesh Films banner.

Awarapan 2 is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on August 14, 2026.
The film is expected to face a major box office clash with Batwara 1947, starring Sunny Deol. Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Aamir Khan Productions, the period drama also features Preity Zinta, Ali Fazal, and Karan Deol.
