A speeding ‘Ama Bus’ hit a scooter carrying a father and daughter near Mancheswar in Bhubaneswar on Saturday afternoon, leaving both critically injured.
The accident occurred on the Rang Route when the duo was returning home from school.
Eyewitnesses said the bus came at high speed and rammed into the scooter from behind, throwing both riders onto the road. Locals rushed to rescue them and immediately shifted the victims to a nearby hospital. Doctors described their condition as serious.
The crowd detained the bus and its driver soon after the crash. Police reached the spot and took the driver into custody for questioning. Officers are verifying the vehicle’s route permit and checking CCTV footage to determine the exact cause of the collision.
