Rs 370 biriyani Controversy

Social media influencer Sakshi Shivdasani has strongly criticised comedian Pranit More over his handling of the viral ₹370 biryani controversy, which has sparked widespread debate on misogyny, accountability and public responsibility in entertainment spaces.

The controversy began after a clip from Pranit More’s comedy show went viral online. In the video, audience member Himanshu Jangra claimed that because he spent ₹370 on a chicken biryani during a date, he expected a “return” on his spending, implying physical intimacy.

The remarks triggered outrage across social media, with many users describing them as disrespectful and reflective of harmful attitudes towards women.

Sakshi Shivdasani Reacts

Taking to Instagram Stories, Sakshi Shivdasani questioned Pranit More’s response to the incident.

She argued that although the comedian later distanced himself from the audience member’s views, he had originally chosen to share the clip online.

According to Sakshi, the decision to post the moment suggested that the comments were initially treated as humour rather than being challenged at the time they were made.

She also criticised attempts to soften the public response by framing the incident as a learning opportunity for the audience member. Sakshi said accountability was necessary when remarks reinforce entitlement and disrespect towards women.

Pranit More Issues Apology

Following the backlash, Pranit More released a public statement acknowledging criticism of his reaction during the show.

The comedian stated that the audience member’s comments did not represent his personal beliefs and admitted that he should have challenged the remarks instead of laughing and moving on.

He described his reaction as a lapse in judgment and apologised to those who were offended by the incident.

Pranit added that he values feedback from his audience and intends to learn from the controversy moving forward.

Employee Loses Job After Viral Backlash

The audience member at the centre of the controversy, Himanshu Jangra, was employed by Gurugram-based company Starvik Design.

As public criticism intensified, the company announced that it had terminated his employment.

Founder Vivek Vishwakarma stated that while internal reviews found no workplace complaints against Himanshu, the incident had affected the organisation’s environment and public image.

The company said the decision was made to uphold its values and maintain a respectful workplace culture.

Debate Continues Online

The controversy has sparked wider conversations on social media about consent, gender attitudes, comedy culture and public accountability.

While some users supported calls for reflection and personal growth, many argued that harmful views about women should be challenged firmly rather than excused as jokes or youthful mistakes.

The debate continues to generate significant engagement online, with many people emphasising the importance of respectful behaviour and healthy conversations around dating and consent.
