Two tourists drowned while bathing in the sea near Sector 14 Lighthouse beach in Puri on Monday.
Doctors at Puri District Headquarters Hospital declared them dead after rescue teams brought them ashore.
Witnesses said the tourists entered the water in the morning and were swept away by strong currents. Locals alerted lifeguards and fire service personnel, who rushed to the spot and pulled them out. Despite immediate medical attention, doctors confirmed their deaths.
Police said the identities of the deceased remain unclear. Officials are working to establish their details and inform families.
