Odisha achieved a historic milestone in industrial growth as Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated India’s first Flat Rolled Products (FRP) aluminium unit at Hindalco Industries Limited’s Aditya Aluminium plant in Lapanga, Sambalpur.
The Rs 26,996 crore project creates 5,012 direct jobs and strengthens downstream manufacturing, positioning Western Odisha as a global industrial hub. The Chief Minister highlighted that industrial growth must translate into prosperity for every family and village. He praised workers as the “real architects of Odisha’s industrial success” and stressed that development means jobs for youth, security for families, and better education and healthcare.
Odisha is advancing with nearly Rs 20 lakh crore worth of industrial proposals, expected to generate 15 lakh jobs once operational. Majhi urged citizens to welcome industries, noting that “when industry grows, every family, every village, and every youth grows with it.”
Later in the day, the Chief Minister inaugurated the 25th edition of CII Enterprise Odisha 2026 at Rourkela. The expo showcased innovations across sectors, MSME participation, and Odisha’s industrial capabilities. The inaugural evening featured cultural performances and Rourkela’s first drone show, celebrating Western Odisha’s heritage and industrial progress.
