Prime Minister Narendra Modi departed on a key three-nation tour on Sunday, which includes attending the G7 Summit in Canada and official visits to Cyprus and Croatia.

In his departure statement, PM Modi said the tour is an opportunity to deepen partnerships, address global challenges, and express gratitude for international support in India’s fight against cross-border terrorism.

PM Modi will participate in the G7 Leaders’ Summit at Kananaskis, Canada, at the invitation of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. He stated that the summit provides a platform to share perspectives on pressing global issues and voice the concerns of the Global South, especially in areas such as terrorism, climate change, and economic stability.

As part of the tour, the Prime Minister will visit Cyprus from June 15–16, marking a significant engagement with the Mediterranean country. Calling Cyprus a “close friend and important partner” in the EU, Modi emphasized enhancing cooperation in trade, investment, technology, security, and people-to-people exchanges.

Following the G7 engagement, PM Modi will travel to Croatia, where he is scheduled to meet President Zoran Milanovic and Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic. This will be the first-ever visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Croatia, and Modi noted that the two nations share centuries-old cultural ties. The visit aims to unlock new opportunities in bilateral cooperation across various sectors.

PM Modi also highlighted that the tour would strengthen India’s global partnerships, promote strategic dialogue, and reaffirm the nation’s commitment to combating terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
