The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast the possible formation of a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal, expected to bring much-needed relief from the scorching heat across Odisha.
The weather shift is anticipated around June 15, marking the end of the prevailing heatwave conditions.
IMD experts indicate that the western and central regions of Odisha could experience temperatures 3-4 degrees above normal in the coming days, with some areas soaring 5-8 degrees above their usual highs. Meanwhile, coastal districts remain under a heatwave alert until June 10, with temperatures expected to peak at 42 degrees Celsius by June 7.
Humidity levels are also projected to rise due to westerly winds, intensifying discomfort. However, meteorologists remain optimistic that the formation of the low-pressure system could bring substantial rainfall, cooling temperatures, and alleviate the extreme weather conditions.
Residents are advised to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged sun exposure, and monitor updates from IMD for further developments regarding the approaching weather change.
