In a much-needed relief for aspiring postgraduate students battling the ongoing floods across Odisha, the Higher Education Department has announced a revised timeline for Phase-I admissions into P.G. Courses for the academic session 2026-27.
Citing the “prevailing flood situation and the difficulties being faced by students and institutions in the affected areas of the State,” the department has pushed key deadlines under the Student Academic Management System (SAMS). The move covers all State Public Universities and Colleges participating in the online admission process.
What’s Changed?
Round-II Selection & Admission
- Last date for reporting at allotted institutions: 25 August 2026 by 5:00 PM
- Institutions must update admitted students’ data in e-Space: same day by 9:00 PM
Round-III Waiting / Spot Selection Round
- Publication of waitlisted applicants (upper choice HEIs, rank-wise) based on actual vacancies: 28 August 2026 at 2:00 PM
- Physical reporting of interested waitlisted candidates (in person or through a representative with valid ID): 29 August (11:00 AM) to 31 August 2026 (4:00 PM) – excluding holidays
- Merit list publication and communication via phone/SMS/email/WhatsApp: 2 September 2026 by 2:00 PM
- Final document validation, admission, fee payment (online modes only) and e-Space updation: 3 September (10:00 AM) to 5 September 2026 (5:00 PM) – excluding holidays
If seats still remain vacant, a further reporting window will open on 7–8 September 2026. Phase-II admissions will be announced later, subject to remaining vacancies.
What Students Need to Know
Waitlisted applicants must report with their Common Application Form (CAF) and relevant documents. Admission fees (where applicable) are to be paid directly to the HEIs through Net Banking, Bank Challan, NEFT or UPI. Institutions will handle the final admission updation in their e-Space.
The department has urged all stakeholders to strictly follow the new schedule. For any queries, students can dial the e-Admission Helpline (Toll Free): 155335 or 1800-345-6770.
This extension comes as a timely breather for candidates in flood-hit districts who were struggling to travel or complete formalities. With the last date for Round-II reporting falling on 25 August itself, eligible students are advised to rush to their allotted colleges without delay.
