Chattogram: Young Team India opener Shubman Gill scored his maiden Test hundred on Day 3 of the first Test against Bangladesh in Chattogram on Friday, December 16. After the visitors bundled out Bangladesh for 150 in their first innings, India decided not to enforce the follow-on and came out to bat for the second time.
Gill and KL Rahul got India off to a solid start in the second innings, adding 70 runs for the opening wicket. While the latter fell for 23 off 62 balls, Gill went on to complete a memorable maiden Test ton.
The 23-year-old got to the landmark in commanding fashion in the 48th over of India’s innings.
The man who missed out on scoring big in the first innings, then soaked in all the applause in the middle. Interestingly, he celebrated his century by bowing down leaving his teammates in splits. Looking at his celebration, the likes of Virat Kohli and KL Rahul were seen laughing their hearts out as the Indian dressing gave Gill a standing ovation for his terrific knock.

However, soon after reaching his ton, Shubman Gill got out scoring 110 runs with Mehidy Hasan Miraz getting the better of him.
Earlier in the day, India completed the formalities skittling Bangladesh out for a meagre 150 runs in their first innings. Mehidy Hasan tried his best but couldn’t hang around with the tail much. Kuldeep Yadav scalped a brilliant five-wicket haul for India on his Test comeback while Mohammed Siraj shone with three wickets.
