Mumbai Indians’ travel plans for their upcoming IPL 2025 match against Punjab Kings have hit an unexpected roadblock.
The closure of Dharamsala airport, alongside several other northwest Indian airports, has forced the team to reconsider their journey.
India’s recent military operation, dubbed Operation Sindoor, targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK), has led to heightened security measures, including restricted air travel. While the Mumbai Indians had planned to fly directly to Dharamsala, they are now considering alternative routes, possibly travelling to Delhi and continuing their journey by road.
Despite these disruptions, the IPL 2025 schedule remains unchanged for now. The Delhi Capitals vs. Punjab Kings match on May 8 is set to proceed as planned. However, logistical challenges due to airspace restrictions could affect upcoming fixtures.
The BCCI continues to monitor the situation, ensuring teams can navigate travel challenges without jeopardising match schedules. Punjab Kings, already stationed in Dharamsala, have resumed training, though ongoing airspace limitations may prompt further adjustments.
