Actor Akashdeep Saigal has made a surprising return to the reboot of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, this time portraying Tulsi Virani’s grandson.
Having earlier played her son, Ansh Gujral, in the original series, Saigal described the transition as both a creative and emotional evolution.
Speaking about the role, the actor called it a “masterclass in evolution,” highlighting how the character shift reflects growth in storytelling and performance. He noted that while his earlier role symbolised rebellion, the new one represents legacy and continuity.
‘A Strategic Move’: Saigal on Reuniting with Ektaa Kapoor
Saigal credited producer Ektaa Kapoor for envisioning his return in the reboot. He described the casting decision as a “strategic move” aimed at bringing back the show’s signature intensity.
“When Ekta calls, it’s not a pitch; it’s a shared vision,” he said, adding that their long-standing collaboration made the comeback feel natural. He also referred to the reunion with former co-stars as a “full-circle moment,” acknowledging their role in shaping Indian television drama.
Mixed Audience Reactions to Casting Choice
Despite the nostalgia factor, Saigal’s casting as a younger generation character has drawn mixed reactions from viewers. Some audiences have questioned the age dynamics, pointing out that the actor appears older than his on-screen father.
The latest episodes feature Tulsi, played by Smriti Irani, encountering her grandson for the first time—an emotional moment that has sparked conversation online.
