Bhubaneswar: In a major development in Jharaphula Nayak death case, the prime accused was apprehended from Airfield area in Bhubaneswar for his alleged involvement in the matter.
A team of Jajpur Police along with the Special Squad of the Commissionerate Police detained the youth, Rakesh Swain for questioning, following a raid at a place in Sundarpada area.
Later, Rakesh was arrested and handed over to the Jajpur police.
Sources said that the sequence of events leading to the crime will be disclosed by the police in a presser on Friday.
The deceased identified as Jharaphula Nayak hailed from Marundeipasi village under Jashipur police limits in Mayurbhanj district and was a +3 second-year student of the varsity.
Jharaphula was murdered in Bhubaneswar. The accused attempted to destroy the evidence after killing the young woman, sources said.
Rakesh’s friend who was riding the two-wheeler is absconding.
