Following similar workforce restructuring moves by Google and Microsoft, social media giant Meta is introducing a voluntary exit scheme featuring substantial severance offers for its workforce in France.
According to reports from French publication La Lettre, the programme could potentially affect approximately 100 of Meta’s 300 employees based in the country.
Rather than implementing direct compulsory layoffs, Meta is executing the strategy through France’s Rupture Conventionnelle Collective (RCC) mechanism. This legal framework enables companies to negotiate voluntary departure terms directly with trade unions and employee representatives. Eligible employees interested in taking the voluntary exit offers must submit their applications by November 5.
The financial package ranks among the tech industry’s most generous severance offerings. Employees opting to leave voluntarily will receive 2.15 months of salary per year of service. For instance, a worker with five years of tenure would receive 10.75 months of pay.
In addition, departing employees will receive 80 per cent of their gross salary during a mobility leave period, alongside company-funded professional retraining and support for starting independent businesses.
