The Odisha Vigilance has unearthed a massive empire of unaccounted wealth during coordinated raids on properties linked to Arabinda Mohanty, Executive Engineer at the R&B Sub-Division in Betanoti under R&B Division, Baripada (Mayurbhanj district).
The anti-corruption watchdog launched simultaneous searches across multiple locations connected to Mohanty and his family members, revealing a sprawling portfolio of real estate, cash, vehicles, and undisclosed investments that starkly contrast his official income profile.
Sprawling Properties and Cash Uncovered
As searches continue, technical assessments and measurements are underway by the Vigilance Technical Wing. The major assets unearthed so far include:

Triple-Storeyed Mansion: A sprawling 3,500 sq. ft. triple-storeyed residential building located at Angargadia, Baleshwar.

Double-Storeyed House: An 1,800 sq. ft. double-storeyed building in Balianta, Khordha district.

5-Acre Farmhouse: A massive 5-acre agricultural spread at Basantapur in Baleshwar district, complete with two fish ponds and an operational poultry farm.

20 Prime Real Estate Plots: 20 high-value land parcels located in and around Baleshwar town.

Cash & Vehicles: Rs 2.77 lakh in hard cash, one Maruti Suzuki Brezza four-wheeler, and two two-wheelers.

Bank Lockers & Investments: Two bank lockers—one belonging to his spouse and the other to a close associate—have been frozen and are set to be opened shortly. Financial instruments, bank deposits, and other investments are currently being audited.

Born on December 28, 1966, Arabinda Mohanty joined Odisha government service on August 4, 1997, as a Junior Engineer (JE) under the Jawahar Rozgar Yojana (JRY) at Betanati Block in Mayurbhanj district, with an initial monthly salary of just Rs 5,000.

Just days after his promotion to the rank of Executive Engineer on September 29, 2026, the Vigilance Department moved in to dismantle his alleged wealth network.
Vigilance officials stated that verification of documents, valuation of landed properties, and opening of bank lockers are currently underway, and a comprehensive disproportionate assets (DA) case will be filed upon completion of the search operations.
