A disturbing incident shocked Bhubaneswar on Monday morning when miscreants attacked a youth with sharp weapons in Salia Sahi locality.
The victim, identified as Jagu Rao, suffered a deep facial injury after assailants slashed his cheek with a blade.
Witnesses said the attackers suddenly surrounded the youth and struck him with sharp weapons, leaving him bleeding heavily. Locals rushed him to a nearby hospital, where doctors began treatment. His condition remains under observation.
Police from Maitri Vihar station reached the spot soon after the attack and launched an investigation. Officers are scanning CCTV footage and recording witness statements to identify the culprits. Authorities assured that efforts are underway to arrest those involved.
Residents expressed anger and concern over the incident, pointing out that similar attacks had occurred in the area earlier. The victim’s family demanded immediate police action and stronger measures to ensure safety in Salia Sahi.
The blade attack in Bhubaneswar highlights growing concerns about law and order in the capital city. Police said they will intensify patrolling and take strict action against miscreants to restore public confidence.
