6.0 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Indonesia’s Talaud Islands
Jakarta: A magnitude 6.0 earthquake on Saturday struck near Indonesia’s Talaud islands. However, no damage was immediately reported.
According to the Indonesia geophysics agency BMKG, the quake’s depth was 11 km (6.8 miles).
Indonesia is frequently hit by earthquakes and volcanic eruptions because of its location on the “Ring of Fire,” an arc of seismic faults around the Pacific Basin.
