Sunderagrh: As many as 370 employees of the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) of SAIL have been infected with coronavirus till now. So far, five workers have succumbed to COVID-19 during its second wave in the past week.
Reportedly, the Rourkela Steel Plant is staring at a serious crisis of manpower shortage as a substantial number of its employees have tested positive for Covid-19. Firstly, 24 employees have been detected for this deadly virus and now the total count has reached 370.
Two staff, who were undergoing treatment at Ispat Government Hospital (IGH), succumbed to the virus on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the numbers of positive cases are increasing consistently. On the other hand, employees and their families in Sector-4 have been seen standing in long queues in the morning at IGH for antigen and RTPC tests.
Though the steel city is under night curfew and weekend shutdown, increasing of positive cases has baffled many. The Steel City at the epicenter of the virus spread, Rourkela Municipal Corporation and police have beefed up enforcement drive.
