Sundergarh: A local court has sentenced 11 persons to life imprisonment in a murder case which had taken place four years ago in Biramitrapur area in the district.
Rourkela ADJ-1 court awarded life imprisonment to all the accused, who were found guilty of murdering a woman on suspicion of practicing witchcraft in Ratakhanadi village under Biramitrapur police limits. The crime was committed in March 2018.
As many as 14 villagers had murdered 55-year-old Jasoda Singh of the same village suspecting her to be sorcerer. They also had launched murderous attack on husband and son of the deceased as they opposed them.
A case had been registered with police on March 3, 2018.
