Berhampur: A youth was shot at by five miscreants at Khajuria village under Goshaninuagaon police station in Berhampur of Ganjam district.
“The victim has been identified as Gaurahari Pradhan of the same village. He has received a bullet injury on his waist and has been admitted to the hospital,” a police official said. He added that five suspects has been arrested and an investigation is underway.
According to reports, Pradhan was sitting at a tea stall in Nua Khajuria village when five to six youths arrived there and threatened to kill him by brandishing pistols. All of a sudden, they fired three rounds of bullets at Pradhan and one bullet struck him in the waist.
On intimation, police immediately reached the spot and took the five accused persons into custody. In the meanwhile, the injured youth was rushed to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur in a 108 ambulance for treatment. His condition is stated to be normal at present, sources said.
On being asked, police said the firing incident is suspected to be a fallout of suspected past enmity and further investigation is underway in the case.
