A shocking incident unfolded in Rourkela Sector-6 on Tuesday when a youth was brutally murdered with sharp weapons.
The victim, identified as Tufan, was attacked by a group of 10 to 15 individuals who allegedly planned the assault after a dispute during the Raja festival.
According to family members, the attackers lured Tufan to a deserted area near a school in Sector-6 under the pretext of settling the quarrel. Instead, they carried out a gruesome killing by slitting his throat. His body was later found lying in the abandoned spot, sparking outrage among relatives and locals.
The family lodged a complaint at Sector-7 police station, accusing the group of orchestrating the murder. Police reached the scene and began an investigation, collecting evidence and questioning witnesses. Officials confirmed that the attack was linked to a previous altercation in the Gol Ghar area, where Tufan had clashed with some youths.
The incident triggered tension in the locality, with residents demanding swift justice. Police assured that all angles are being investigated and promised strict action against those involved.
Authorities said the murder appeared to be a planned revenge attack, and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the culprits.
