A school headmistress was electrocuted to death while attempting to switch on a motor pump at her residence in Lugadia village in Sambalpur district on Tuesday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Anita Purohit. Her husband, Santosh Purohit, sustained serious injuries while trying to save her.
According to sources, Anita unknowingly came in contact with a live wire, leading to the fatal accident. Despite immediate efforts by locals, who used a wooden stick to disconnect the electrical source, Anita was pronounced dead upon arrival at Naktideula Hospital. Her husband is currently receiving treatment for his injuries.
Anita was widely respected for her dedication to education and her philanthropic efforts. Her sudden demise has left the local community in mourning, with tributes pouring in from students, colleagues, and residents alike. Authorities have registered a case of unnatural death and initiated a probe into the circumstances of the incident.
