The School and Mass Education Department announced that schools across Odisha will reopen on June 18, following the end of summer vacation on June 17.
Minister Nityananda Gond confirmed the decision, citing improved weather conditions and the onset of the monsoon.
He said the drop in temperature across the state has created a favourable environment for students to resume classes. The government decided to reopen schools, keeping in mind the academic continuity and well-being of children.
The minister stated that if the heat wave intensifies again or road conditions make travel difficult for students, the government will review the situation. However, considering the current weather pattern, schools will reopen as scheduled.
Officials noted that the monsoon has brought relief from the intense summer heat, allowing safe and comfortable conditions for students to attend school. The department assured that all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure smooth reopening and proper classroom functioning.
